HUDSON – “Cast Out” [Song Review]
They may come from that hotbed of debauchery Los Angeles but Hudson certainly don’t sound like your typical LA band.
Listening to “Cast Out,” the new single from Los Angeles rockers HUDSON, while reading the bumph that accompanied it, it all falls into place. You see, Hudson don’t sound like your typical “LA band,” but then you find out they grew up on a diet of artists like Bob Dylan and, while looking for a frontman, they discovered vocalist David Hudson rockin’ out a White Stripes cover and, well, the rest is, as they say, history.
Formed in 2013, HUDSON are the kind of band you’d find in a smoky, dimly lit bar and “Cast Out,” taken from their sophomore EP of the same name, is a proper rock n’ roll song. It’s dirty riffs, gravelly vocals and cocksure swagger is something you only hear from a group that grew up on the bands that defined this genre. There is no pretense about what Hudson do – they just get down and rock out and, while they may not yet be able to recreate that special ingredient that made their influences so groundbreaking, “Cast Out” will definitely sit nicely alongside the modern-era of bluesy classic rock.
Run Time: 3:34
