Film Review
Benjamin Statler – “Soaked in Bleach: A Documentary About the Death of Kurt Cobain” [DVD Review]
Soaked In Bleach is both incredibly informative and very well done. It makes a compelling case that Cobain’s death may not have been a suicide as originally reported.
Kurt Cobain’s death on April 8th, 1994 rocked the music world to its very core. At the young age of 27 he had already become a legendary musician who’s band, Nirvana, single-handedly launched the grunge music era and simultaneously crushed the ’80s hair metal scene.
Soaked In Bleach: A Documentary About The Death Of Kurt Cobain takes an in-depth look at the alternative possibilities of Cobain’s death, which official records have ruled a suicide. The story is told from the perspective of Tom Grant, a private investigator who was hired by Cobain’s wife, Courtney Love, a few days earlier to investigate his disappearance. Through original recordings, news clips, and interviews with those who were part of the investigation, Grant makes a compelling case that Cobain’s death may not have been a suicide as originally reported.
The movie plays out like many popular forensic television shows, keeping the viewer engaged throughout. I am not a conspiracy-minded person by any means, but if I am being honest, after watching this film I can easily believe there was something more to the musician’s untimely death. I highly recommend checking out this film; it is both incredibly informative and very well done. Even those who are not fans of Cobain’s work will enjoy this!
