Album Review
Doro – “Raise Your Fist”
Despite her stature as the reigning queen of heavy metal, Doro has always been one of those artists that metalheads seem to either love or hate. Sadly many people attack her music, label it as cheesy and even make all sorts of sexist comments. Haters be damned, Doro never seemed to pay attention to the negative press and has soldiered on for over 25 years. Let’s be honest, she’ll probably keep making metal until she dies. Her enthusiasm for metal culture is abundant in her songs and is so refreshing in a genre filled with negativity.

Personally I’ve always found Doro to be a highly underrated performer. Sure, some of her lyrics are indeed cheesy, but the thing is, she always seems to make solid albums; of which Raise Your Fist is yet another.
Sure Raise Your Fist isn’t going to win any originality awards and might not be her best effort to date, but like AC/DC, Slayer and Motorhead, you always know what you’re going to get with a Doro album. Which in this case are solid and fun metal songs with great sing-along choruses. A couple of ballads also pop up, but metal is always the key focus. Per usual all of the songs are decent, but the best in my opinion are “Raise Your Fist”, “Cold Hearted Lover” and “Take No Prisoner”.
