DEAP VALLY Announce 7 Inch Release of “Gonna Make My Own Money” Out July 31st; Premieres Music Video
Los Angeles based band Deap Vally are excited to announce the release of their debut single, “Gonna Make My Own Money,” on Ark Recordings on July 31st. The song is a raucous and energetic blues rocker with an infectious chorus that puts this all-girl group on the map as heirs apparent to the throne left vacant by West Coasters Sleater Kinney and Bikini Kill.

The band also released a video for “Gonna Make My Own Money,” directed by Pablo Balderas. The video’s style fits the song perfectly, presenting a hazy day-in-the-life aesthetic to what appears to be a scorching day in Los Angeles (is there any other type?), complete with lighting reminiscent of today’s retro Instragram-style, car rides, and breaks to swim in the pool. Check out the video below as well.
Bringing rock-hard grit and all-girl soul from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County, Deap Vally is made up of the howl of Lindsey Troy and the rhythm of Julie Edwards. Together, the duo break blues down to its simplest, most fundamental form: beat, melody, and meaning, while their scorching live shows are fast becoming the stuff of legend.
