What one piece of equipment do you use to obtain your signature sound?
Joel: It has to be my PRS guitars. I haven’t found a PRS guitar yet that doesn’t feel and play amazing, so I change my tones with the pickups. I use the Tremonti pickups for most of our songs, and the 57/08’s on a few as well.

What about it makes it so important to you?
Joel: The clarity in tone from each set of those pickups is great. I drive the bass pretty heavy from my amps, so I need pickups that can still voice the notes well with a thick distortion tone.

What are the major pros and cons?
Joel: I can’t complain, I love both pickups for the wide tonal range they give me. I don’t have to carry many guitars on the road with me because two can handle whatever I need.

How long have you used this piece of equipment and would you ever change it?
Joel: I’ve been using this pickup arrangement for about two years now. I’ll only change them if we write something that needs a sound I can’t create with what I’m using.

Any final thoughts or comments on the gear?
Joel: It took me a long time to get good quality gear like my PRS guitars, and they make an unbelievable difference in playing, tone, feel, and look. I love my guitars.
