Where the band’s latest release ‘Brown Shark Red Lion’ (2011, The Mylene Sheath) was a lush and fully orchestrated affair with multiple guests, the new material finds the Boston/Portland trio drawing back on the layering and embracing a more lean and direct approach – playing all the instruments themselves while allowing plenty of space in the process. About half way through tracking the band mentioned that “…it’s the most upbeat pop-ish type material we’ve ever written, and Solter has been a tremendous asset through the process – getting amazing sounds and allowing us to really hone in on a sound that brings in a dance-y element.” The forthcoming record should see a release sometime in mid-2012 on The Mylene Sheath.
