The Skinny: Broken Gold is the an Austin-based project of Riverboat Gambler Ian MacDougall, with former Gambler bassist, Patrick Lillard. The new album offers lyrics pulled directly from MacDougall’s own recovery journal that he kept following a traumatic accident in October of 2009 – hit by a car while riding home in his bike – that left him hospitalized and with major injuries that threatened his life and almost ended his career as a guitarist. The free download “Ambulance Faces” is a haunting example of the music’s power and subject matter.
