Assassinate The Following – “Massacre Of The North”
Canadian’s identity as a people of politeness conjures up images of poppy Canadian music like Sum 41, Avril Lavigne or Stereos. Little does the world know there is a very brutal side to Canadian music. Assassinate The Following shows this other, darker face on their new album Massacre Of The North which, as the name indicates, massacres audiences in the north.

The track “Dawning Creation” sets the album in motion with instrumentals that resemble eerie carnival music. After being drawn into the CD the killings begin with “I Once Was.” The whole band rages in with their progressive metal music which spans the entire album. There are some supreme guitar riffs here and when the band decides to simplify they get into some brutal breakdowns. If you are a guitar freak you’ll love the work they have done on this release. For example, it’s absolutely absurd how crazy the two guitarists get on the intro to “Fight To The Death.” Additionally, the vocals switch between powerful growls and mellow singing all which nicely compliments the guitars.
Progressive metal gushes through the veins of Assassinate The Following. Be aware of their tour schedule and see them live if they visit your town. Fans of Bloodshoteye, Aquila, Protest The Hero and The Karma Cure will greatly enjoy Assassinate The Following. [ END ]
