Nadja
When I See the Sun Always Shines on TV (04.28.2009)
I do not even know where to begin. When I See the Sun Always Shines on TV, the newest release from Nadja is an unbelievable mess of a disc. The songs are cover tunes from artists as varied as A-ha to Slayer but they do not resemble the original nor do they do the original tunes any justice.
Massive amounts of distortion make most of the disc unintelligible and in all seriousness unlistenable. The production is awful, unrefined and the whole hot mess seems to meld together into well for lack of a better word, excessive noise. Maybe I do not have a good attention span but I believe song length is another issue here with tunes like “Dead Skin Mask” clocking in at over ten minutes long and “Faith” which tops out at 12:47 it is very difficult to remain engaged for very long.
I really had a hard time listening to this disc. It was a test of my will to try to make it though to the end. Honestly, I always attempt to find something positive to highlight when doing CD reviews but try as I may I cannot find any redeemable quality on here.
When I See the Sun Always Shines on TV is beyond extreme and beyond avant-garde and I truthfully do not know what the point is. [ END ]
