Keep Telling Myself It’s Alright is the newest offering from Island Records artists Ashes Divide. The alternative band dishes up a solid collection of Alt-rock tunes that is enjoyable and fun to listen to. Combining delicate melodies with catchy bass lines the songs develop into something quite ethereal and melancholy that at times seem to swirl away. The record is very well-produced and the production is incredibly pristine with a clean and glossy sound.

There are many tunes on here that are good solid rockers. Tunes such as the opener “Stripped Away” and “Denial Waits” are good examples of how this band can dish it out; they are both very good.

There are also many tunes on here that beg to be danced to and one could easily imagine throngs of club goers dancing to them on the dance floor. Good examples of those are “Forever Can Be” and “Defamed,” both of these songs remind me of the late eighties New Wave Movement, possibly in the Depeche Mode vein.

My favorite track on the album by far would have to be “The Stone,” this tune combines the best of both aspects, it rocks and is danceable at the same time but has a killer guitar line running through it that is quite impressive.

Many of the tracks on this disc will easily lend themselves to radio play and I would imagine with the band being on Island Records they should do really well. Overall, while Ashes Divide has not redefined the Alt-Rock genre they most assuredly have assembled a very enjoyable collection of tunes that are a pleasure to listen to.  [ END ]
