Another Animal

Self-Titled (09.25.2007)

With the release of their self-titled debut CD, rockers, Another Animal, are looking to prove that they can stand out in a genre that is teeming with watered down, average, run of the mill acts. After listening to this disc, I would have to say I believe that they are succeeding with flying colors. At times reminiscent of Alice in Chains and the early to mid nineties Seattle scene, this disc is packed with well-written, well-produced tunes that rock from start to finish.

Tracks that are personal favorites of mine are “Amends,” “Left Behind” and “Blind” all of which are solid hitting angst-ridden tunes that reflect their grunge influences; you can hear the passion as the vocalist becomes fully immersed in the lyrics making the emotion in these songs almost palpable.

I also really enjoyed the old school blues flavor of “Black Coffee Blues”; traditional blues kicked up a notch, this is a straight up smoking tune.

By far the song that stands out the most to me is “The Thin Line” this song is a bit heavier and a bit more unrefined than the others on the disc are and definitely shows the bands versatility and what they are capable of.

There really is not much bad to say about this album. This is the kind of music I enjoy listening to the most. Another Animal has withstood constant listening, in my CD player and I would recommend it without reluctance. Pick up this album as soon as you can; you won’t be disappointed.  [ END ]
