Drowning Pool

Full Circle (2007)

Full Circle: an album which I have been looking forward to, and somewhat dreading the release of–-looking forward to Drowning Pool’s new sound, yet dreading to hear the replacement for deceased vocalist Dave Williams. It is impossible to replace the lead singer of a popular band and succeed at the same level, but Ryan McCombs certainly tries to make it happen.

Full Circle has a considerably different style than Drowning Pool’s fans have grown fond of. The hardness in the music is lacking; every song is much softer then I was expecting. It is a possibility that the recording quality is poor, but I find it hard to be absorbed in the music. It definitely isn’t as gripping as their first two albums.

If I HAD to pick a favourite track on the album it would be “Enemy” because it is the only song on the entire CD that resembles anything close to the Drowning Pool that I know and love. I can feel the anger pouring through Ryan’s voice. It seems to me that it’s the only song that the band put their heart and soul into on this album, but then again that is only my opinion and I am sure some of our beloved readers would feel differently.

This album was disappointing in my opinion. I certainly wish the band the best of luck in finding their roots and producing a sick album for us to enjoy at a different date, because this just isn’t that album.  [ END ]
