The Beginning of the End (2006)
The Beginning Of The End is power metal at it’s finest! Warmachine’s newest album is truly pleasing to the ear. Joe Di Taranto plays a mean guitar, both lead and rhythm. While doing so he rocks out with the Iron Maiden like vocal style. John Salerno is also the bands lead and rhythm guitarist. The position of bassist is filled out with one of the best possible choices, Alberto Campuzano. Last but not least, the role of drummer goes to: Adam Raymer.
The first track on the CD is called “Betrayed”. The band starts off the album with a very interesting guitar riff, keeping it to only five different notes; standard for any metal band. While the metal guitar riff is assaulting your ears, Joe Di Taranto’s piercing vocals hit hard at the same time. This song is definitely something that would get your attention if you were passing it by on the radio.
The ninth track on the album is entitled “Eye for an Eye”. This is definitely my favourite Warmachine song. I am not a fan of long intros, but the band pulls it off on this track. The lyrics on this song are very well planned out as well, which describes a good story about the death penalty.
The final track on this album is called “Apocalypse”. Let me take a couple seconds to talk about the drums in the intro, which was the first thing to catch my attention. Drummer Adam Raymer can truly keep a good beat. The rest of the song is not as good as Raymer’s awesome intro, though. Taranto gives his weakest vocal performance of the album on this track. The rest of the band makes up for it, though, with some true metal instrumental. The awesome guitar riffs keep your attention throughout the whole song.
Overall, I would have to say The Beginning Of The End is an excellent album: it keeps the true spirit of metal going. Most bands nowadays don’t know what real metal is. This is a band that takes metal back to its roots. This is an album for any metal head to listen to. [ END ]
