Nearly twenty years ago Exodus burst onto the metal scene. Their groundbreaking record Bonded by Blood was influential in defining a rather new genre of Heavy Metal music known as Thrash. By creating memorable riffs and packaging them in an all out assault on the senses Exodus cultivated a loyal following.

Those fans will not be disappointed by the bands newest release Shovel Head Kill Machine. From the opening riff of the albums first track “Raze” the listener is reminded of why the guys in Exodus are considered pioneers. The trademark wall of guitars and drums is back and sounding better than ever. Let the serious neck snapping commence!

The production is phenomenal; sonically it is a great sounding record and the songwriting, especially on tracks such as “Going Going Gone” and “Deathamphetamine” highlight the band’s signature sound while still showing their ability to grow as songwriters and musicians over the last two decades: something not accomplished by many other bands of this era.

This album seriously rocks and would be a welcome addition to any hard rocking fan. I would give this CD a 9.2 out of 10. There are ten tracks on this disc with a total running time of 52:56.
