Throw The Fight
The Fire Within [EP] (2006)
Now a lot of people today listen to mainstream shit, such as My Chemical Romance, The Used, Metallica, etc… but what people don’t listen to is Indie. More people need to give credit to the smaller bands. They need money more than mainstream bands and people should begin to listen to bands like Throw The Fight.
The band is an intricate combination of punk, metal and even classic rock, which sounds odd, but in the end sounds amazing. Hailing from Minneapolis, the band consists of Paul Kreuger (Load Vocals), Ryan Baustert (Guitar/Vocals), Joey Ulrich (Guitar/Vocals), Aaron Huppert (Bass), and Cory Huppert (Drums).
Now onto the record. The EP itself is fairly short, only containing four tracks, but it is still very good. The tracks are catchy and easy to listen to. Paul’s vocals are melodic, and the guitar riffs range from soothing, to hard and heavy. Cory’s drums are tight and to the point and the whole band really connects all the way through the EP.
First on the EP is “Left Here.” The intro is fairly heavy, but not too heavy. Paul’s lyrics are really depressing, but he sings with a tone that lightens the music up a little bit.
The best track on the EP, I found, was “Endless Struggle.” The track has a Hardcore-Metal type guitar riff and I’m assuming it would be fun to play! The bridge is heavy and the solo kicks ass… both Ryan and Joey really shred. The screams near the end of the track are bone chilling.
Overall, the EP was produced very well. Now I didn’t mention this before, but Throw The Fight is an unsigned band… and they have got to be the best unsigned band I have ever heard. Way to go guys. I give this EP an 8.4/10. [ END ]
