Clocking in at just over 44 minutes, :Swedish shredders The Haunted released their latest album, the 14-song Exit Wounds, on August 25, 2014. Loaded with exactly what you’d want to hear, and expect, from this band, with the new album the Swedish death metal scene has been seemingly totally rejuvenated. We wanted to delve further into the new album’s sound, so we chatted in brief with guitarist Ola Englund.

If you thought you knew heavy music and you’re not yet familiar with Anagnorisis, then you just may have to alter your definition thereof. This is an unsigned Louisville, KY-based Black/Death Metal quartet that pushes sonic boundaries in every way. Their latest album, 2013’s Beyond All Light, boasts music akin to the recording’s title, dark as shit. We caught up with lead and rhythm guitarist Zak Denham in order to get a better idea of how the band’s sound comes to be.

Birmingham, UK alternative/electro rock quartet, This Burning Age, self-released the first in a series of four EPs on April 28, 2014. Titled Supplication, the first recording features 3 unique tracks that run the gamut from driving hard rock to soft, piano-lead passages. Released via Agonia Records on April 15, 2014, the 9-song skull-smasher of a disc entitled Sovereigns, is the latest and greatest from Brussels, Belgium-based black metal band, Enthroned. Loaded with jarring moments, we decided to toss some gear questions at bassist Phorgath who in turn hooked up some cool responses in order to help us all better understand the sound behind Sovereigns. Pedro “Perico” Arguello plays bass (and handles backing vocals) for the Latin American rock quartet, Prime Ministers. The band formed in 2007 and since its inception has been slowly wowing audiences and critics alike with their brand of catchy, modern rock. Enter 2014 and the group are set to break out unlike they’ve ever done before, thanks in large to their hot new single “Take It Back”. Francesco Artusato is quite the accomplished shredder known for his work in All Shall Perish, The Francesco Artusato Project, and now, the Howard Jones-fronted metal band, Devil You Know. Together with John Sankey (drums), Ryan Wombacher (bass), and Roy Lev-Ari (guitar), the fast-growing group is set to release their debut offering, The Beauty of Destruction, in North America on April 29th via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. In an effort to learn more about the powerful sound behind this debut, we sent some gear-related questions to Artusato. Here’s what he had to say.

Winnipeg, MB-based, born, and bred Hardcore/Punk heroes, Comeback Kid, released their rip-roaring new album, Die Knowing, on March 4th via Distort/Victory Records to rave reviews. Featuring twelve new songs including the new single “Should Know Better” (which you can hear below), the band is now in full-on promo mode! Fortunately we managed to secure some time with guitarist Jeremy Hiebert and chat in brief about some of his key gear.

Assassins are a Detroit, MI-based metalcore/hardcore quintet that recently announced a new record deal with eOne Music/Good Fight Music. Now, on the verge of the March 18th, 2014 release of their new album War Of Aggression, the band is pouring on the hype! We managed to snag some time with guitarist Steven Taylor and ask him about some of the gear he used when recording War Of Aggression.

Budapest, the capital and largest city of Hungary, happens to also be home to a five-piece metal band with an equally impressive and large sound, Omega Diatribe. Currently promoting their 10 track full-length album, IAPETUS, which dropped on October 21st of 2013, the band meld elements of groove, math, and psychedelic to form music that just begs to be heard. We caught up with lead guitarist Gergő Hájer to ask about his Agile 727 Septor Custom guitar and how if impacted the band’s latest release.
