LA rock band Masque announces the release of their latest single titled “Cake”. “Cake” is the second in a series of Summer releases produced by Keith Olsen (Ozzy, Scorpions, Whitesnake). “Although the title ‘Cake’ may conjure thoughts of something sweet, I wrote this song based on a rather dark relationship from my past” states lead guitarist Kevin James. “I dig how Keith captured the huge wall of guitars while showcasing a raw, up front and in your face vocal performance. It was truly a pleasure working with the man responsible for so many legendary records”.

It’s been one year since Cake released their #1 album, ‘Showroom Of Compassion’, yet the success continues for the band with the debut of a new music video for “Mustache Man (Wasted),” the group’s third hit single, which is currently Top 20 and rising at Alternative Radio. The album’s first single, “Sick Of You,” remained a Top 5 hit at Alternative and Triple A radio for over 3 months, and second single “Long Time” saw similar success, making this a trifecta rarely seen in today’s music climate.

For seven long years the world longed for a new album from Cake and their prayers were answered at the start of this year with the release of Showroom of Compassion. Believe it or not, the release of new album celebrates twenty years of Cake, although the band wasn’t active much during the seven year hiatus. Showroom of Compassion is classic Cake, but with a slightly different sound and more piano playing via Cake leader John McCrea.

Cake performed their hit single “Sick Of You” on Conan last night, watch it HERE. They also performed a web exclusive of “Long Time” as well, a song that EW.com premiered earlier in the day HERE. Both songs are off the bands forthcoming album ‘Showroom Of Compassion’, Out January 11, 2011.
