Hold Your Horses! JOHN DEAR Present “Drugstore Cowboy”, Their No-Nonsense New Music Video [Exclusive Premiere]
Swiss duo, John Dear, continue to dish out their killer bluesy, swampy, fuzzed-out rock concoction and today, promoting their new single via Irascible Music, we’re all giddy-ed up to debut the video for “Drugstore Cowboy”.
You’re probably thinking our new video premiere for John Dear’s “Drugstore Cowboy” has something to do with a tractor, or maybe a drug-specific Robin Hood, but it’s actually a lot more abstract (bordering on esoteric) as evidenced by the band’s quote below. If you’re new to this awesome two-piece from Lausanne, Switzerland, well, its the brainchild of John W. Dear, and his longtime collaborator and sidekick Alma June.
Drugstore Cowboys is the duo’s sophomore record, produced by Chris Turpin (Ida Mae, ex-Kill It Kid) and mixed by Mark Rains (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Rival Sons), and can be ordered via Irascible Music.
With an exclusive comment on the new video, the band stated, “‘Drugstore Cowboy,’ the first single from the upcoming album, is a hallucinated low tempo sexy tune that follows the footsteps of a wild underdog, waking up thinking he’s Jesus Christ and ending up his night tap dancing under a purple rain like a resurrected Frank Sinatra. The video clip ‘Drugstore Cowboy’ is a one-shot scene, no trick, no cheating, which reflects the raw way the album was recorded: live with almost no edits, no cut, and paste. Filmed by RJ41, it features the drugstore cowboy in chief, visual artist, and poet Flynn Maria Bergmann.”
“John Dear Is” this music video. Sorry, couldn’t think of anything more creative.
