“Blood From a Loyal Hound” is the humorously titled new track from post-punk/post-hardcore band Two Inch Astronaut. The group formed in 2009 and revolves around the three members, Matt Gatwood on drums, Sam Rosenberg on guitar/vocals, and Daniel Pouridas on bass. The trio hails from Colesville, Maryland and have had a steady dose of new music of the years, culminating with the pending release of their full-length album Bad Brother. Growing up in the suburbs of Washington, DC has certainly had an effect on Two Inch Astronaut’s sound. It is a heavy mix of post-punk, post-hardcore, and indie rock that may remind you of Dischord Records’ glory days.
The three members that compose the band were friends long before forming a group which has made for a very easy going and fun vibe with their music. Their live show has been described as awkward and occasionally violently confrontational, certainly an interesting description to say the least. Two Inch Astronaut has drawn comparisons to bands like Failure, Jawbox, Replacements, and Thingy among others. Check them out for yourself and see what you think.
