The Skinny: In celebration of Record Store Day 2012, Toronto’s post-hardcore distortionists METZ contribute their previously unreleased cover of Sparklehorse’s “Pig” for an exclusive 7-inch for prominent Toronto record store Sonic Boom. Limited to 150 copies and available only at Sonic Boom, each record was hand-screened and hand-numbered. METZ share the 7-inch split with Toronto’s newest krautrock experimentalists Fresh Snow.
When friend and Sonic Boom owner Jeff Barber asked if METZ were interested in participating, they jumped at the chance. “We had this Sparklehorse cover that we recorded during the sessions for our new record and this seemed like a good way to release it.” The split 7-inch will be released this Saturday April 21 in honour of Record Story Day.
