Protest The Hero – “Gallop Meets The Earth” [CD/DVD]
Growing up in Whitby, Ontario there was always one band that everyone was talking about in school – Protest The Hero, who was dominating the local Durham scene. On their way to fame ‘Protest’ would play our local venue, The Dungeon. As time went on, their popularity grew too big for Canada alone so they inked a deal, becoming an international act. With a worldwide fan base Protest The Hero recently released a live DVD/CD by the name of Gallop Meets The Earth. This release offers a taste of what the band is all about.

With a worldwide fan base Protest The Hero recently released a live DVD/CD by the name of Gallop Meets The Earth. This release offers a taste of what the band is all about.
Disc A is the DVD and features a live performance that was held December 18, 2008 at The Sound Academy in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Protest The Hero performs an 11 song set that also features some footage of the members both before and after the show. The live set is intense and showcases all five musicians’ talents. Each member has their moment to shine throughout the DVD’s footage. Lead singer Rody Walker’s quirky sense of humor is evident between songs, where he makes fun of gingers, plays mama/baby bird and extends his dislike for hardcore dancing to the crowd. He is definitely a funny guy. Alongside the show footage are bonus features; “Spoils” the music video, as well as some tour videos make their way onto this release.
Disc B is the audio portion of the aforementioned Toronto show. It features the same 11 songs along with the Rody Walker banter. It’s not as good as watching the DVD, but surely a nice change from listening to the studio versions of the songs.
Being such a great release, the boys couldn’t resist being their humorous selves by putting random references at the intro of the DVD. I am not going to spoil any of it for you, so pick up a copy and watch for yourself. [ END ]
