Joe Lynn Turner
Live in Germany [LIVE] (10.21.2008)
Joe Lynn Turner, Live in Germany is a damn good disc from a guy who has been the voice of some of the best hard rock heavy metal bands of all times. Paired with guitar great Ritchie Blackmore, Turner was the voice of the seminal and super influential band, Rainbow and he set the tone for scores of other bands to follow. I guess it is somewhat flattering that so many have imitated his unique style. It was great to pop this disc in and hear that familiar voice belting out the tunes that were part of my early metal days. The best part of this disc is that even after so much time, Turners voice sounds just like I remember it, superb.
This disc contains the absolute best of Turner’s solo efforts, as well as those of his days in Rainbow; almost everyone of them was a hit and was in regular rotation in the early days of MTV when all they played was music videos.
For the true Joe Lynn Turner fan all the essentials are here, including “I Surrender,” “Street Of Dreams” and “Stone Cold,” all of which were released decades ago but still sound just as fresh and good as ever. Other songs included on this disc worth mentioning are “Can’t Let You Go,” ”Burn” and “Blood Red Sky.”
As a huge Joe Lynn Turner fan from the early days, I think this is a definitive collection of live tunes that will surely please old and new fans alike and should go a long way to bringing new fans to the Turner fold as well. [ END ]
