Haste The Day – “Dreamer”
Alright, so we all have a relationship with our music and sometimes it takes just one song to judge a whole band. Alright, so we all have a relationship with our music and sometimes it takes just one song to judge a whole band. Last time I heard Haste The Day… I was listening to “American Love” which started off good, but then has the lamest singing ever and it really put me off the band as a whole. I then received their new CD Dreamer and assumed that it was going to be even softer than before. I turned up the first track “68” and my jaw dropped! I was with a friend and yelled; “holy f*** is this actually Haste The Day?”
“68” really shocked me. It sounds like nothing else Haste The Day has ever done, going a lot heavier than usual, almost Deathcore… I never knew they had it in them. Another totally awesome track on the album is the very catchy “Mad Man”, which kind of reminds me of Escape The Fate for some reason. Haste The Day do range in styles and this is very apparent during the song “Haunting.” Some of the vocals sound very Punk/Hardcore kinda like Comeback Kid.
Yes it’s true, they do go softer on some of the later tracks on the album. Songs such as “Adult Tree” and “Labyrinth” offer a softer, yet very dark sound for Haste The Day; there is even an acoustic called “Autumn.” Nevertheless, softness aside, the tunes still rock.
Overall, a very, very catchy album I just can’t get out of my CD player… i did not expect to be saying that. A must have record if you’re a fan of As I Lay Dying, Acacia Strain, Knights Of The Abyss, Escape The Fate, and Comeback Kid. 9 out of 10 worms. [ END ]
