Album Review
Silverchair
Young Modern (2007)
Today is going to be an awesome day. The sun is shining, birds are twittering. Nothing can stop me from having the best day ever, and listening to Young Modern is a great way to start it—complete with morning coffee, of course.
I cannot give enough compliments to Silverchair’s new album, which explodes soulful rock melodies from my CD player. It sounds totally different than any type of rock or indie music that I have heard lately. The suite “Those Thieving Birds” is my favourite part of the album. There is nothing hardcore about Silverchair’s sound here, except for the band’s devotion to make exceptional music. There is so much emotion put into every song. Silverchair’s sound is extremely felicitous this time around, giving the feeling that the band has completely evolved compared to previous albums.
Young Modern is easy to listen to. It isn’t wrought with head banging tunes—a pleasant rarity for PureGrain. I’m glad I had the chance to review this album, because it definitely a must-listen. [ END ]
