RENASSENSE – “Lust” [Song Review]
An unapologetic celebration of burning desire, the new RENASSENSE single “Lust” amplifies pleasure through the senses, physical beauty, and excitement.
San Francisco-based producer and DJ RENASSENSE unveils her new single/music video, “Lust,” a track from her recently released EP, Human Experience, which probes five potent states of being: empathy, lust, creativity, music, and pain.
Talking about the song, RENASSENSE shares, “‘Lust’ is a primal and deeply human experience. The magnetic pull of desire.”
Driven by the need to convert experiences into art, RENASSENSE’s sound utilizes progressive house and melodic techno elements to expose listeners to vulnerability, connection, and authenticity, i.e., music that evokes sensations of feeling, contemplation, and association with consuming emotions.
Her name – RENASSENSE – refers to the Renaissance of the 15th and 16th centuries while at the same time denoting her first name, Rena.
A thumping kick drum intro, followed by the entry of a pulsating bassline, creates a sensuous rhythm. Whispered vocals add to the seductive, erotically charged flow of “Lust.” Flickering synths and primordial percussive accents infuse the harmonics with ripples of carnal textures.
The video juxtaposes black and white visuals against images drenched in red hues. The mixture of throbbing dance music, voluptuous sighs, and suggestive imagery flood the melody with shivering passion.
An unapologetic celebration of burning desire, “Lust” amplifies pleasure through the senses, physical beauty, and excitement.
