We Out Here Festival Announces First Acts and Activities for 2024 Event
After last year’s brilliant event, We Out Here Festival is back in August and you can read full details of what they have planned here…
After last year’s excellent weekend, We Out Here is back from August 15th-18th with a line-up of artists to rival last years phenomenal festival, if that is indeed possible.
The weekend at Wimbourne St Giles in Dorset, that features the absolute best from the world of Jazz, Soul, Rap, Hip Hop and Funk, and is curated by the legendary BBC 6 Music DJ Gilles Peterson, rocked our world last summer with breathtaking sets from the likes of Blackstar, Ezra Collective, Sun Ra Arkestra, Nubya Garcia, Wu-Lu and Cymande.
The festival organisers have now revealed that WOH ’24 will once more include an eclectic mix of headline artists as diverse as Mercury Award nominated Sampha, flute wielding Andre 3000, Indian vocalist Asha Puthli, U.S. rapper Black Thought and the incredible Floating Points.
Brian Jackson, the writing and performing partner of Gil Scott Heron will be returning and there will be killer sets from Mount Kimbie, Obong Jayar, Matthew Halsall, Kae Tempest, Yaya Bey and legendary Jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater.
In addition to these amazing names, other headliners will include Louie Vega, Corrine Bailey Rae, Loose Ends, CASIDEAD and Ebo Taylor.
Last year’s Rhythm Corner stage provided some beautifully chilled out DJ sets and this year the venue will welcome Joy Orbison, Calibre, Channel One, Zed Bias, Tama Sumo & Lakuti, Mr Scruff, DJ Storm and Gilles Peterson himself.
The last festival included a stunning celebration of 50 years of Hip Hop, and this year sees further anniversary celebrations including 10 years of Wisdom Teeth, 25 years of Tru Thoughts, 20 years of First Word, 20 years of Hyperdub, and 15 years of Eglo Records.
Check out our coverage of WOH ’23 here to find out about the calming setting of the riverside Sanctuary area, the exciting sounds of the Lush Life stage and the Near Mint record fair featuring a whole host of sellers from around the country, all of these will be returning this year, along with more stalls, stages, DJ sets and Food and Drink.
With more announcements to follow, we can’t wait to get back to We Out Here this Summer. For more information and ticket info, head over to the official We Out Here Festival website here.
