Kosaya Gora Announce Debut ‘Kosogor’; Share Single/Video “Motorcyclists Die”
Kosaya Gora have announced their first full-length album ‘Kosogor,’ due March 17th, via 2MR, and shared the single/video, “Motorcyclists Die.”
Kosaya Gora (English translation; Oblique Mountain), a new indie project from acclaimed electronic producer/singer Kedr Livanskiy and experimental producer/visual artist Flaty, have announced their first full-length album Kosogor, due March 17th, via 2MR. Kosaya Gora is an entirely new sonic direction for them both. The debut is a multilingual foray into guitar-based folk, haunting dream pop, and moody synth, underpinned by Livanskiy’s signature hypnotic vocals.
The two recorded Kosogor in a mobile studio which they took through remote villages in their native Russia. Livanskiy remembers:
“In one place, there was nothing but a forest, a cemetery and [a] ruined church. The wooden house we lived in was 120 years old, and this spirit is imprinted in some songs.”
Kosogor’s album centrepiece, “Motorcyclists Die,” available today, features several lines from the American poet J. Blake Gordon’s poem “so what.”
Livanskiy explains:
“The song is a reflection on the topic of death and the finiteness of earthly existence. A walk along the dark road of the subconscious.”
