Singer-Songwriter Xavier Collins Takes Introspective Approach on New Song “Gone” [Premiere]

Following on from his recent debut, “Elegy”, London-based singer-songwriter Xaver Collins is back with his new single, the introspective “Gone”. Taken from his upcoming EP, Coastlines, which is due in April 2022, the single sees Collins taking an emotive approach to his music.
Check out the video to the single here:
Speaking about his approach to the song, Xavier explains: “This is an acoustic track, it’s raw and unplugged. It was recorded in one take as a guide/reference and not to a click… but we decided to just go with it as it was because it’s authentic and emotional. The song was written after many failed attempts to find my natural sound and almost in desperation – the lyrics, like the song’s essence, were inspired by Song For Zula.”
Having rediscovered his love of music and passion for songwriting at the age of 30, the lockdowns afforded Collins the ability to focus on the material for his Coastlines EP. Musically inspired by the likes of Dylan, Radiohead, and Bon Iver, the EP finds Collins in a reflective mood. Mapping a challenging relationship breakdown between him and his best friend, Coastlines documents the toxic descent of the relationship which saw Collins escape to travel the world.
Seen as the opening and closing of this particularly turbulent chapter in his life, Coastlines will take you on a raw, emotional journey that, if “Gone” is any indication, will have you feeling every single moment of this journey as if it was your own.
