REDDSTAR Unleash Fury with the Video for Their Debut Single, “STFU” [Premiere]
We don’t often get the pleasure of offering you the formal introduction to a whole, brand new act, but today we are so honoured to give you your first taste of REDDSTAR and their debut music video/single for “STFU.” The song, recorded with Sahaj Ticotin, known for his work with Motley Crue and Starset, will be officially released tomorrow via Blood Blast Distribution and will be included on the band’s upcoming debut EP which they are currently finalizing for a release later this year.
The colourful and visually intense video came together in an unconventional way, largely due to the many obstacles created by the pandemic. Video director Brian Cox, renowned for his work with Bring Me The Horizon, Hollywood Undead, and The Used, was forced to stay at home in London and direct the video remotely via Zoom, while the band performed at MixOne Soundstage in Orange, California. Judging by the sparkling results, this distance proved to be no big issue for Cox or the band.
Commenting on the significance of the song, lead singer Daemien Drake said, “In a world where everyone’s so opinionated, people just need to learn how to shut the fuck up sometimes. This is our reminder.”
In regards to the music video, guitarist Mikey Lopez shared, “Filming the video for STFU was a great experience. Due to COVID travel restrictions our director, Brian Cox, had to direct us via Zoom from his home in London. Being told ‘try it again with more sexy face’ through a laptop is just as cool as it sounds!”
Rounded out by bassist Erik Tisinger and drummer Russell Ray, REDDSTAR officially formed in January 2020, luckily just prior to the beginning of the pandemic. The band members live in three different states, none of which are very close to each other, New Jersey, Florida, and California. They were determined to not let the combination of the pandemic and the distance deter them from moving forward with the band, so they all packed their bags and relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana in late May of last year to record their debut EP with Ticotin.
2020 was a disastrous year for humanity, but for the members of REDDSTAR, it was an opportunity they took to triumph in the face of adversity, which they have as they work towards the EP release and hopefully an accompanying tour coming up soon.
