Americana/country/rock/folk/R&B outfit The FrannyO Show recently dropped their new single, “Carolina,” from their forthcoming sophomore album, Big Box of Time, set for release on August 9.

Discussing The FrannyO Show’s sound, frontman Fran O’Connell says, “If you put Delta Blues, New England folk, classic Country, Irish tongue-in-cheek humour, and Caribbean rhythm into a pot and let it simmer, you’d get The FrannyO Show.”

After working most of his life as a nurse, about ten years ago, O’Connell found the guitar he had given to his oldest daughter, Alison, under a bed. He stayed up all night messing around with the guitar. The next morning, he told his wife he would start a band. She couldn’t stop laughing.

Since then, The FrannyO Show has released a long player, two EPs, and a steady stream of singles, including “Forever and a Day,” “29 Days,” and “Uncle Joe.”

“Carolina” conjures up suggestions of Hootie & The Blowfish blended with early Eagles, rolling out on shimmering guitars atop a tight rhythmic flow. The shape of the melody is simultaneously alluring and pleasant with its SoCal soft country-rock contours. O’Connell’s easy-to-listen-to vocals imbue the lyrics with heartfelt, expressive tones.

Full of beaucoup gentle warmth, “Carolina” reveals the grace of deep emotion that unfolds with delicious, charming momentum.
