Sheryl Crow Has Plenty of Fun at The Piece Hall in Halifax [Photos]

If you haven’t been to a Summer gig at The Piece Hall in Halifax, you really are missing out on something special. An outdoor courtyard, the venue has hosted some of the biggest names in rock and pop with everyone from Noel Gallagher and George Ezra to nu-metal superstars Limp Bizkit gracing the stage in this Yorkshire town.

Tonight it was the turn of singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow to play to a packed house as the summer season in Halifax was well and truly in full swing. Like many artists before her, Crow commented on the beautiful surroundings of the venue, joking that her kids were back home because they were now “too cool to tour with Mom!”

Rocking out her most famous hit, “All I Wanna Do,” early doors, Sheryl Crow is one of those artists whose musically is truly ageless and, judging by the sight of fans dancing around the floor, some of her biggest hits are as popular now as they were when the Sheryl first burst onto the scene.

Clearly, an audience who have grown up and followed the much-loved songwriter, it would be fair to say that the crowd here tonight is made up of the kind of demographic that you would expect, and with Sheryl delivering a set mixed-up with top-quality elements of funk, rock, country and pop, it is easy to see why her fanbase has been with her throughout every moment of her incredible journey.

Early on in the set, Sheryl Crow acknowledges the quality of support act Dea Matrona, commenting that “it is good to see that music is in safe hands.” It’s great to see an appreciative acknowledgement from the headliner but, despite losing the cool mum factor with her kids, Sheryl Crow doesn’t look ready to hand her baton down to the next generation just yet.
