Gustavo Galindo Honours His Daughter with “Princesa” Music Video [Premiere]
Latin singer-songwriter Gustavo Galindo has released a special acoustic performance video for his song “Princesa” off his new album.
There’s no mistaking that there’s a lot of gloom and unease lingering in the air these days, something that Gustavo Galindo has noticed. He’s using his art to make a statement, which he has poured into his brand-new album Between Two Worlds. One of the standout tracks on the record is “Princesa,” a song dedicated to his daughter.
Today, Galindo unveils a special live acoustic performance video of “Princesa,” filmed live at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles. It’s a different take on the song, and performing it on his own acoustically really enables Galindo to pour his whole heart into what’s already a very heartfelt track. Galindo would like you to think of it as a little dose of positivity in your day, no matter how you feel.
Commenting on the meaning of the song, Galindo states:
“‘Princesa’ is a song I wrote during the pandemic about missing my daughter as well as Mexico City. I came up with the guitar riff and knew I wanted something melancholic and simple. I wanted to capture the feeling of longing, sadness and hope that takes the listener to their own moments.”
Between Two Worlds is Galindo’s third studio album, released last month. Born in Mexico and raised in the United States, Galindo’s music is an interesting mix of Latin and American influences. The album is a snapshot of where he is currently at in life and people like him. He wanted to record songs for people his age finding their way through the same challenges and transitions. From relationships to parenthood, to hope, to fear, we’re all in the same boat of grasping at both hope and despair.
Galindo wanted to make a record to counter the collective pessimism that has befallen this generation’s young people. Instead of giving in to it, he’s trying to embrace it and make the most of it. Living in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Alyssa Diaz of ABC’s The Rookie, and their kids, Gustavo Galindo knows he has much to be thankful for. And he’d like to encourage you to look on the bright side as well.
