The doors to MGM Music Hall at Fenway opened at 7:00 last Friday night to lines from both sides of the entrance. The list of performers, you ask? Daisy the Great, The Vaccines, and The Kooks.

Daisy the Great graced the stage first with their euphonious harmonies. This four-member band, with two lead singers, complements each other perfectly. It’s unusual to see a band play nearly every full song with two lead singers, but they execute the job well.

Kelley Dugan was center stage and switched from sole vocals to vocals and piano or electric guitar. Meanwhile, Mina Walker switched from guitar to bass. Their lead guitarist sent his hair and body flying across the stage in each of his guitar solos—a true testament to the term “high energy.”

There was a quick turnover to The Vaccines, who came out looking absolutely thrilled to be on stage. This band looks like they truly love what they do and love engaging with their fans. Lead singer Justin Hayward-Young dedicates equal attention to both sides of the stage and is never not smiling.

The crowd was thrilled to see The Vaccines, and for good reason. Their sound is identical to how they record, and they play many of their biggest hits that fans are dying to see. My personal favorite of the set was “Wetsuit,” as there were planned dance moves and lighting switches in tune with my favorite song by the band.

From there, the night moved on to The Kooks’ set. I must say: leave it to the Brits to perform their setlists in full suits. Both The Vaccines and The Kooks wore full suits and with the exception of a suit jacket, somehow kept them on the entire time in bright lights and constant movement.

The crowd went wild for The Kooks with everyone in the room dancing and singing along to the music. The band started out with an acoustic variation of their hit, “Seaside,” as the remaining band members filed out. The Kooks were again super high-energy and loved interacting with the crowd.

Overall, the entire concert was remarkable and filled with great music, great energy, and very positive vibes!
