Dan Rincon Announces ‘Spotlight City’ LP; Reveals Lead Single “Cessna”
Longtime OSEES drummer Dan Rincon has revealed his new song “Cessna” from his forthcoming ‘Spotlight City’ records.

Today, Dan Rincon, longtime drummer of legendary psych-rock act OSEES, is announcing his debut solo LP, Spotlight City. Due May 3rd via Castle Face Records, the record sees Rincon building electronic soundscapes for the imaginary Spotlight City with his cadre of synthesizers.
Rincon has also shared the album’s first single, “Cessna,” a droning, electro-orchestral track leading off the record. Simultaneously indicating signs of hope and sadness, the song is released alongside a video from Delaney ________.
Rincon and OSEES frontman John Dwyer offered the following words about the track:
“Soaring over the bleak day to day.
Adrift from the tedious tetherearthbound no more
Take flight and get up there, the higher the better.”
“Cessna” is available via all DSPs today, and the full Spotlight City LP will be out on May 5th via Castle Face Records.
Artificial landscapes and melodies comprised of Moog Grandmother, Mellotron, and a kinky Modular system span from beautiful and lilting to haunting and ethereal. The album was a years-long learning experience of getting all components and ingredients to link arms and blend comfortably. Wrangling was part of the process. Strings soaring and sines weaving.
Comments Rincon:
“I was listening to a lot of solo Roedelius and Conrad Schnitzler records while writing this record and I’d say that both have been hugely inspirational on what I want to do as a solo recording artist. The way both of those artists pushed the early, chaotic electronic music into something more melodic is really inspiring to me. It’s not that dissimilar than trying to get melodies out of a modular synthesizer.”
An absolutely necessary slab for anyone a fan of CF, OSEES, Popol Vuh soundtracks, 8-bit video game accompaniment, and 1980s Tangerine Dream. Limited Pressing coming at ya. Burn one and burn out.
