If you take a look through ‘The Open Door’ today, you’ll find Carne and the premiere of their brand new record. The Fargo, North Dakota trio has put together ten impressive new tracks that will speak to fans of both new and classic indie rock.

The Open Door has a very Midwest sound to it, raw and intimate, and both sincere and lighthearted. Carne formed out of a sheer love of rock music, and that is conveyed throughout this album. It has a very college rock sound to it, three youngsters happy to play for anyone interested in listening.

Commenting on the new record, frontman Colten Dahle states:

“Tired but hopeful, off-kilter yet grounded. The Open Door is an invitation. If you feel so inclined, join us for a while. Lend your ear and spend some time.”

One of the real highlights of The Open Door is a cover of Dido’s mega-hit “Thank You.” The way in which Carne has remade the song is both compelling and interesting. It’s familiar enough but totally different, with a lo-fi approach that really reinvents it.

As a whole, The Open Door is a musical expression of having it all but still wanting more. It’s a common characteristic of American life that you should be content with the way things are. But that’s a very narrow view of modern life, where many often feel passed by or forgotten. Technology has allowed us to do almost everything on our own. But within The Open Door is an insistence that the only positive way forward is through human connection.
