Alt-Pop Newcomer L Devine Shares Self-Deprecating New Single “Slippin Away”
Building up to her debut album in 2024, alt-pop star L Devine has released her new single “Slippin Away”
Alt-pop star L Devine has shared her new single “Slippin Away” as she continues to edge closer to the much anticipated February 2nd release of her debut album Digital Heartifacts.
The single demonstrates the popstar’s continuing artistic evolution, melding her renowned diaristic and self-deprecating lyrical themes with a sound that blends her alt-pop heart with the raw feel of its live instrumentation. Check out the video for the track here which consists of a session performance filmed for Abbey Road’s ‘Equalise’ programme:
Speaking of the single, L Devine says,
“‘Slippin Away’ is my way of taking the piss out of my patterns in relationships. I protect myself a lot in my song writing by being self-aware and making fun of myself before anyone else can. It’s a tongue-in-cheek love song about smothering someone with love so much that you push them away.”
On the subject of the album, the singer says:
“The album is a bit of a different direction sonically in that we recorded way more live instruments on it than I ever have before and I think this song especially has a proper band feel to it. So being able to record a live session with Devon at Abbey Road and show people what’s to come on the live side of things was so exciting.”
L Devine releases Digital Heartifacts on February 3rd, 2024 and you can pre-order your copy here.
