The Dollyrots Tease Eighth Album ‘Night Owls’ with Reflective New Single “When We’re Sober”
The Dollyrots return with their eighth album ‘Night Owls’ teasing the release with new single “When We’re Sober”. Get all the new music here.
With dark nights ahead, what better way to brighten all our lives than with the return of bubblegum punk favourites The Dollyrots and their brand new album Night Owls? Featuring thirteen tracks full of catchy riffs, huge melodies, vocal hooks and an outlook that oozes both sunshine and punk rock values at the same time, Night Owls offers some of The Dollyrots finest work to date. Night Owls will be released on October 13th, 2023 through Wicked Cool Records/The Orchard.
The duo, vocalist and bassist Kelly Ogden and guitarist Luis Cabezas, aren’t making you wait until the release date though as they have just released a brand new single from the album. “When We’re Sober” reflects on the situations we can sometimes find ourselves in from partying too hard. Check out the lyric video for the single here:
Speaking about the album, Kelly said: “You know how they say a band’s 1st album is usually their best? Well I think because we had time for this one, you know, since the World stopped, it’s a lot like a 1st album. We had so many bits and pieces and once we could finally get into the studio it all just flew out of us, like we had been holding something vital & urgent in for years. Because we had. If you love The Dollyrots you’ll love Night Owls. If you don’t know The Dollyrots, you’ll probably love it too.”
For the album, which is their eighth to date, The Dollyrots have enlisted the services of long time collaborator John Fields (Jimmy Eat World, All Time Low, Meet Me at the Altar) who has handled production duties for the record alongside Kelly and Luis (except for “Hey Girl”, which also has Stevie Van Zandt on production). Mixing was also done by John Fields, Recording and Engineering was done by John Fields and Luis, and Mastering was handled by Will Quinnell at Sterling Sound.
The album was recorded across three locations – Creation Audio Studio B in Minneapolis, Renegade Studios in New York City and Harmonic Mermaid in The Dollyrots home town of Tampa, Florida. Night Owls artwork was created by Spencer Alexander.
Around the release of Night Owls, The Dollyrots will be hitting the road in the US for two quick runs of shows.
