Earlier this year, we premiered “Norton Caines”, the debut single from Brighton-based alt-rock / electronic musician / singer-songwriter hük, and a taster for hük’s upcoming Friction EP.

Today, hük is back with another taster from the EP in the form of new single “Superpower” and, again we’re stoked to be premiering the track here. Inspired by the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Front 242, Talking Heads, and Einstürzende Neubauten amongst others, the track sees hük channelling his post-punk influences to produce this brooding new track.

Check out “Superpower” here:

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, hük explains: “In an alternate universe John Barry comes home from a day writing epic spy themes. He turns on the news and implodes to a crushing tsunami of coercion and paranoia. The ambulance crew feed what’s left of him into an old AI model originally designed to create government propaganda but which is now running a dating app. The first thing out of the model is ‘Superpower’. The second is a new recipe for Kool Aid. You were warned.”

Friction is due out later this Summer, you can keep updated on all the latest news by visting hük’s Official Instagram Page.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
