Daphne + The Glitches Premiere Their Gaming New Single “Power Shifter”

While some may complain about the current state of the music industry, we can be thankful for it enabling bands like Daphne + The Glitches to exist and thrive. Today they unveil their new song “Power Shifter,” a catchy, guitar-driven, psychedelic jam that sounds both modern and traditional, showcasing their unique musical energy.

Working with Bob Hoag on this track was in such a blast from beginning to end and taught me so much, his fingerprint on it is unmistakable and has really elevated each element of the tune.

“As far as what I want listeners to get from listening to it, I think that’s going to vary a lot from person to person… It’s about shifting power dynamics, and where you lie on that spectrum might offer its own unique perspective into the song’s meaning.”

Daphne Greene is the lead singer, guitarist, and chief architect behind the ensemble. She is a trans woman based in Phoenix, Arizona, whose unique sense of humour and love of gaming has got her to this point. “Power Shifter” is actually Daphne and her associates’ debut single, a statement of sorts of who they are, both as individuals and as a musical ensemble. You could say they are almost creating their own little subgenre where gaming and music unite together, a home for listeners who are significant consumers of both.

Daphne previously gained attention as part of her first band, the Los Angeles-based rockers Statues of Cats, but now she is branching out once again with the will and ambition to do something no one else is doing within her industry. That talent and ambition are showing through, like with the invitation she received to perform at this year’s Phoenix Rock Lottery.
