Niall McNamee released his new EP Love Without Walls on the 9th of June. The EP is the soundtrack to the award-winning feature film Love Without Walls directed by Jane Gull and composed by Niall McNamee. The film is a moving story about a young musician and his wife who rely on their relationship as comfort when faced with financial difficulties. Love Without Walls has already won ‘Best Feature’ at Manchester Film Festival and London Independent Film Festival, as well as being nominated for ‘Best Feature’ at the National Film Awards.
Niall is an Irish singer-songwriter and talented actor whose passion for music started at a young age. Growing up, Niall supported himself by performing Irish folk songs, which later progressed into contemporary rock and pop. His music features deep lyrics that narrate emotional stories and personal experiences. Niall takes inspiration from the likes of Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, The Pogues, Christy Moore and The Undertones.
Love Without Walls features emotive and powerful lyrics throughout. The EP includes a variety of musical styles and moods, varying from folk/acoustic in songs such as “Comes and Goes” and “The Knowledge” to emotional piano ballads with “China In A Box” and “Love Without Walls.” The album takes the listener on an emotional journey into the lives of both characters. The Knowledge is the leading single from the EP and focuses on Niall’s character, who is training to be a black cab driver in London. The song starts off with a soft style and transforms throughout to create an uplifting mood.
“Step By Step” is also heavily featured in the film as it details the small steps and giant leaps in life through love and hardship. The song is a remix from the original track that was released over a year ago and re-released specifically for the film.
Niall has previously collaborated and performed with talented singer-songwriter Imelda May on their single “Don’t Let Me Stand On My Own” and has sold out his UK and Ireland tour singing in venues such as Camden Assembly (London), Workmans Club (Dublin) as well as performing at Glastonbury and Isle of Wight Festival.
