Originally from Leeds but now based in Brighton, England, alt-rock / electronic musician / singer-songwriter hük has just arrived to dancefloors armed with his debut single “Norton Caines” out today.

Revealing more about Norton, the singer-songwriter explains how the track is “a song about unsuitable love, paranoia and the fear of loss. Seen through the eyes of Norton Caines – a forensic Garbage Analyst – brought in to find the Rest Stop Strangler as she preys on truckers at Northern English service stations. With an impending sense of his own mortality and the smallness of his life Norton starts to lose the plot. Delivered over a heavy synth groove and razor blade guitars there’s light at the end of this tunnel!”

Check out our premiere of the dancefloor banger right here:

Paying homage to LCD Soundsystem, Gorillaz, Curtis Mayfield, Justice, Talking Heads, John Barry, Lalo Schiffrin, the goal for the Brighton-based artist is to create “an LCD / Isaac Hayes smoothie jacked up to a car battery…”

hük goes on to tell us “I’m fascinated by why we are as we are and how easily we can come off the rails. Musically we’re talking dirty synths, frazzled funk guitar, heavy grooves and shortwave radio vocals. I just want to lose the plot on the dance floor!”

Once you’ve dragged yourself away from the dancefloor, make sure you keep up to date with all the news by following hük online here.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
