New York-based Bad Mary has unloaded a music video for their single, “Vibe-icide,” off their new EP Trash & Glamour, out now! The band just returned from a successful tour run in Japan and looks forward to US shows and a September date with the Dollyrots and Tsunami Bomb.
Bassist Mike Staub says of the recent tour:
“The tour was incredible! We got to perform at amazing venues in Japan, meet our Japanese fans, and play to packed houses. Each venue was incredible and everything from audience response to sound quality was among the best. These were some of the absolute best shows we’ve ever played, we are looking forward to bringing the show to more US audiences this year.”
Assing some background on the single and video, Staub states:
“It’s a song about killing your own vibe. Ever feel like you’re having a great day and that something has just got to go wrong to wreck it? Yeah, us too. Almost to the point of self-sabotage, we take a cheeky look at being our own worst enemies. Even if we did something right, we feel like we did it the wrong way. ‘Vibe-Icide’ is meant to be a sarcastic look at how we will wreck our good times with bad thoughts. The song is crunchy, punchy, and a little grimy. We love that and when thinking of the perfect song to kick off Trash & Glamour, we knew Vibe was the best fit. ‘don’t give me bad vibes… I’ll kill my own, thanks.’”
Bad Mary is vocalist Amanda Mac, with Mike Staub on bass, Bill Mac on drums, and David Henderson on guitar. Later this year, they will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of their first album, Better Days, with the release of re-recorded and remixed versions of the songs; the EP Better(er) Days will be out in the fall.
You can catch their weekly live stream on Twitch on Tuesday nights at 8 pm EST.
