David Helpling and Heartracer have joined forces for their new single, “Living Like a Ghost,” bringing ambient and synthwave together in an explosive new anthem for those that have ever felt lost or alone. This collaboration is a first of its kind for both artists and, as a result, created an entirely new genre of music.
Deeply ambient, spacious, full of shimmering detail and echoing with a heart-wrenching vocal performance from Chris Cosby and Kylee Swenson Gordon. The music builds to an explosive second act and punches its way through the top as it liberates with powerful electronic beats, chiming guitars and a full string section. The song was mastered by Grammy-Winning audio pioneer Emily Lazar and the ethereal music video was filmed and edited by award-winning director Tim Janssens.
David Helpling is an award-winning ambient electronic recording artist based in San Diego whose bold sound and haunting melodies have made him a favourite of the genre. After his debut album, Between Green and Blue and the breakthrough sophomore release, Sleeping On The Edge Of The World, David and Ambient artist Jon Jenkins joined forces for a trilogy of massive-sounding albums. These releases: Treasure, The Crossing, and Found launched the duo into an international success.
Heartracer is an electronic pop project formed by brothers Chris and Chip Cosby. The name was derived from Chris’ tachycardia diagnosis a disorder which causes the heart to beat faster at random intervals. Combining modern production methods with classic pop songwriting reminiscent of simpler times, Heartracer’s sound is that of anthemic grandeur. Unabashedly drawing on inspiration from pop icons of the past, such as Duran Duran and Aha, their sound provides a wide-ranging palette of interwoven synths, guitars, and swooning vocals that ultimately embalm the listener with nostalgic synth magic.
