Nonstop To Cairo re-release their hook-laden single “Awkward Situations” on March 31 as they gear up to debut a new song in April and their new album KAI in May via collaboration with Rama Entertainment and Creative Entertainment Network/The Orchard, a division of Sony Music.
The pop-punk-flavoured “Awkward Situations” dives into action with melodic punk rhythms, fast-paced riffs, and rapid-fire rap. Says vocalist ASH:
“‘Awkward situations’ is a high energy relentless punk/rock song. It speaks to knowing that we can’t live in the nostalgia of our glory days, as a comfort for the road we must travel. Moving forward through obstacles, is how you get to where you are going.”
Delivering a mix of punk, hip-hop, funk, and ska, the New York-based Nonstop To Cairo is August “ASH” Harris (vocals,) Nick Diamond (guitar/vocals,) Alex Turner (drums/vocals,) and Ed Nevin (bass).
Their upcoming LP KAI, slated for release in May, is named as a tribute to the band’s trumpet player/keyboardist, Kevin Anand Itwaru, whose initials make up the album title. Itwaru passed away tragically just before KAI was recorded; and while their grief deepened the music, it’s also a celebration of life.
Shares guitarist Diamond:
“Our sophomore album KAI is a celebration of life, dedicated to our friend, brother, and former member Kevin Anand Itwaru who passed away in 2020. The project is a great portrayal of the vision we created with him, as our sound is ever-evolving. KAI is about the ups and downs of life, music, loss, and the connection needed to persevere.”
