Having opened with the wonderful quirky pop of Jessie Ware a few days earlier, the stunning location of Piece Hall in Halifax was taken over by 5,000 or so fans as one of Britrock’s biggest icons, Noel Gallagher, made a trek over to Yorkshire for an unsurprisingly sold-out date ahead of his appearance at Glastonbury Festival. With family and plenty of friends in attendance, Gallagher played through a solid set featuring tracks from his three solo albums along with all those classic Oasis cuts.

With a Manchester City flag draped over one of his amps, Noel was in a fine mood, joking with the crowd and even signing one fan’s album. Our photographer Graham Finney joined the masses as Noel ploughed through a crowd-pleasing set with obvious favourites coming by way of Oasis classics like “Wonderwall,” “Half The World Away” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger” all sung so loud by the enthusiastic Halifax crowd that we’re pretty sure they could be heard back in Manchester.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
