As the weather turns windy and wet, there’s only one thing to get you through the dark nights and that’s live music. Packing people into the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds tonight is Saint Agnes who has been creating more than a buzz over the past few years.

Taking to the stage first is Sit Down, who quickly has the crowd gathered around them. With two single spotlights directing off stage and an eerie red glow only just lighting up the stage, there is a very dramatic feel to this band. The trio certainly takes command of the room as Katie Oldham leads as she sings from behind her drum kit. The heavy and dark music reverberates around the room entrancing the crowd and drawing them in. It may be the band’s first time in Leeds and on tour, but their performance tonight was entertaining and has made new fans out of this crowd.

The stage lights glow red as Beastie Boys “Sabotage” and The Prodigy’s “Firestarter” are played over the sound system and the crowd draws forward ready for Saint Agnes to hit the stage. The lights go dark and an eerie intro track is played as the group comes on and kicks things off with “Daughter Of Lucifer.” Full of energy, the band builds their momentum as they head into “I’m With You Everywhere You Go” next and the crowd takes it all in as they clap along.

Continuing with tracks from their latest EP, Vampire, released earlier this year along with tracks from their 2019 album, Welcome to Silvertown, the set covers a wide range of the band’s back catalogue. The crowd seems to be enjoying getting to hear all the tracks live as for many this will be the first time. It’s the group’s stage presence and energy however that makes them so captivating to watch.

Frontwoman Kitty Austen throws herself into the music and you can’t help but watch as she puts on a show. The rest of the band backs this up as they jump and put their all into each song. As the night comes to a close, the group play “Repent” from the new EP before ending on “Brother.”

Saint Agnes is clearly an act for everyone and anyone as the diverse crowd here tonight proves and embraces the inclusivity that their music provides.
