Moanhand – “Endless Embrace” [Free Song Download]

If you identify as a metalhead, well, we’ve got a nice little treat for you today. Thanks to our friend Roman Filatov, the mastermind behind one-man-band Moanhand, we are offering you a free high-quality MP3 download of the scorching new single “Endless Embrace,” as well as an exclusive look into the making of Moanhand’s latest record Present Serpent, due for release on June 18th on Burning Shine.
This never-before-seen video offers you an inside look at Filatov recording and jamming in the studio, along with some commentary from the man himself on the making of the album. He provides some valuable insight into his creative process and explains why he brought in some collaborators to help him make this six-song effort sound truly memorable. Although he may be speaking in Russian, it’s not hard to notice Filatov’s incredible ambition to make this record sound as huge and memorable as possible.
Explaining the influences behind “Endless Embrace,” and how it fits on the album, Filatov told us, “‘Endless Embrace’ is the second single from my upcoming debut full-length, Present Serpent. I think it’s the most unusual and exotic track on the album and this is my personal interpretation of sludge, stoner, and doom metal. Inspired by Arabic melodies and rhythms, from the main theme to the solo I played darbuka and maracas. Moanhand has been around since 2016 and sometimes it was a band, sometimes a one-man-band like it is now. But I’ve always written the music and lyrics in this project, and now I’ve also recorded the whole album myself. You can hear a lot of influences from non-metal genres, and this is my view on how diverse and varied slow fuzz metal can be.”
It’s been an eventful and productive five years since Filatov began writing and recording as Moanhand. It was started as an outlet for him to apply himself creatively, which he has done so superbly on releases such as Plague Sessions, an EP he recorded live at Pentagram House Studio in Moscow in 2019. Present Serpent is undoubtedly his largest musical endeavour yet, an album that’s a metal masterpiece, joining together the subgenres of black, death, doom, sludge, and post-metal all under one roof. It’s both brutal and melodic, all written, arranged, performed, and programmed by Filatov himself.
This is the culmination of his talents and a springboard to what promises to be a new level of notoriety for this truly dynamic singer and songwriter.
