Slye – “Into Colour” [Free Song Download]
UK-based Slye is a talented solo artist who delicately crafts funky indie-pop that draws from the classic sounds of the ‘70s while remaining sleek, and melodically topical. His music is a stylish, retro pastiche that dares listeners to sit still, and his newest single – “Into Colour”, out February 21, 2020 – is no exception. Accompanied by a vibrant, nostalgic video, “Into Colour” is a daring call to embrace all that life has to offer, to throw caution to the wind and encounter the full spectrum of experience – and it’s never sounded so good. *Insert requisite reminder to continue practicing self-isolation here*
On the song, Slye says the following, “Last year, I decided to make significant changes to my life, so I took a short solo trip around Northern Italy and documented my thoughts. As soon as I arrived back home and picked up the guitar, the chords, melody, and lyrics for the ‘Into Colour’ chorus were the first thing that came out, and I built the song around that.”
The three-and-a-half-minute track, which we’re now offering as a free download, is a pulsing, upbeat jaunt fleshed out with sharp rhythm guitars, smooth-as-silk basslines, and shimmering synths, while Slye’s vocals star front and centre as the song bursts and sparkles towards its final moments. “Into Colour” is a perfect ode to Spring, and, although we prudently aren’t enjoying the season to its fullest right now, Slye’s tune helps us experience the vivacious energy of a life lived in full bloom.
