Pop/Punk Patriarch DL Serios Preparing His Debut Solo Slab
Simply put, he’s a survivor — a legacy artist — a patriarch of the old school pop-punk scene. Back in 1985, frontman DL Serios founded the outrageous, award-winning Florida combo, Dead Serios. Described stylistically as Metallica-meets-Frank Zappa while trapped inside a carnival funhouse, the band released a slew of hard-hitting records for various indie labels and appeared in such prestigious publications as Billboard and Thrash Metal.
Known for their Alice Cooper-inspired, must-see live shows, Dead Serios performed over the years with an array of heavyweight headliners, including Marilyn Manson, Faith No More, Hootie and the Blowfish, Anthrax, Circle Jerks, Ace Frehley and GWAR. The 2015 Dead Serios tribute record, They’re Not Joking, featured performances from members of such internationally-known acts as The Misfits and UFO.
In 2020, DL Serios is striking out on his own with an aggressive new band and a contagious debut solo record. Tentatively entitled, Blame it on the Romans, the album is being pitched presently to prospective labels.
The recording involved an impressive studio team — celebrated East Coast producer/engineer Brendon Paredes (Bob Marley, Dixie Chicks) and Tommy Craig, current drummer for the legendary, platinum-selling Pat Travers Band.
Fresh and fun, crisp and crunchy, Blame it on the Romans will possess the distinctive DL Serios pop punch, without compromising his signature-style street cred. The 10-song slab is set to include the infectious breakout tracks, “Feeling Freakie” and “Smile, Sara Smile,” as well as a refreshing remake of the Ramones standard, “She’s the One” and an authentic cover of the Motörhead classic, “(We Are) The Road Crew.”
As a result of the Coronavirus crisis, DL Serios concert dates came to a neck-breaking halt in March. However, he hopes to return to club and concert stages across the U.S. by late summer.
