Belfast’s MASK is a gritty, blues rock quartet which released its debut EP The Truth on November 13, 2017 — it can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, among the other usual streaming suspects. With quick success and a positive response to their initial output, the gang were amped to continue creating and not even a year later, on August 31st, 2018, MASK returned with their sophomore release, and first full-length, The Famous.
Featuring nine new tracks all teeming with a raw blues rock bounce akin to ‘60s and ‘70s groups the likes of The Beatles, The Kinks, and The Rolling Stones, the music also includes a modern flair that will sit well with fans of both Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Black Keys. Labels and comparisons aside, the music is just plain old good and we’re serving up a sweet sample thanks for a free download of “Greatest Lie”. Check it out!
Speaking of the song and download, Rob Humphrey (aka H), said: “We often get messages asking what genre we are? This song is going to drive those people crazy! It’s a crazy eclectic mix of Rock, Folk, Celtic and even has elements of Spanish and Indian themes thrown in for good measure. It has been described as ‘Rolling Stones going into U2’ which is of course very flattering. What the ‘Greatest Lie’ is – we have decided to leave open to interpretation…”
